While scrolling through TikTok one evening earlier this month I came across a slightly disturbing post titled ‘How to Recreate the Mob Wife Aesthetic’. I watched the video, perplexed and wondering if it was a piece of satire.

But the next thing I knew my entire feed was filled with:
