**SHIPPING UPDATE** & the Tale of the EXAU Container 💌
The Tale of the EXAU Container
*PRODUCT HAS STARTED TO SHIP* [Details below]
Ciao! Skyler and Giuseppe here from EXAU. Thank you so much for your patience. The past few months have been extremely challenging as we navigated importing our largest shipment ever (!!!) from Calabria to Texas. This is the adventurous tale of the EXAU shipping container.
It was a rainy winter day and we were wrapping up bottling. We made a call to a local freight forwarding company who we were told does excellent work. We did the traditional Calabrian dance: skepticism, followed by two no’s, nonchalance, finishing with acceptance and a joyful conversation about Calabria. This is how all business is done in Calabria, both parties are ‘interviewed’.
The freight forwarder arranged everything with shocking speed and ease! We hit our *groove*. However, due to increased exports from Calabria (and the EU in general), our sail date got bumped back... twice. Then the ship left late. Then it was delayed at sea. Smooth sailing after this right? (pun intended). Not quite. There was another delay forwarding the container to the warehouse.
Each time we import, we learn something new. Delays are usual and pre-calculated. After 3 years of searching for the right partners within every aspect of our business, we finally found like we’re in the right place (for now). Unfortunately, it can feel like none of that matters because of situations out of our control, like shipping.
The international supply chain and freight industry are in a very interesting (re: precarious) place right now. Bottling companies in Italy have seen an increase of 25% in orders meaning there is a bottle shortage. Box companies and label companies are behind on orders due to the influx in orders by wholesalers/brands. Ports and warehouses across the U.S. are at capacity. Ships are sitting out at sea for weeks, they can’t dock if there’s no space on the port. Basically, it’s wild out there right now!
We are grateful for the FDA, ports, freight forwarding companies, and warehouse workers that are working extra hard right now to keep things moving. THANK YOU. And thank you, our customers, for your patience as we get everything sorted. We are so excited for you to get your oil(s)!

 Ciao, Texas
Hello, Texas! You big beautiful state that occupies so much of our heart and mind. The universe aligned and all roads led to Texas. So here we are back in Austin earlier than expected but shorter than we would like. We will be checking on orders personally. And of course, getting vaccinated so we can hug Lina and Salvatore as soon as we get back!! (Btw, all of us across two continents got vaccinated on the same exact day. Coincidence? We think not).
All Italian food is on pause as we consume as much non-Italian cuisine as possible. The one cuisine we haven’t received strong reccs for in Austin is Sushi. If you have suggestions in Austin please let us know! You can respond to this email : )
